Welcome to the information age. You have access to outrageous amounts of information at any given moment on practically any given topic. Sure, it’s nice to be able to read up on the questions plaguing our minds, but boy, it’s noisy out there! A hundred people are saying a hundred different things about the same stuff. How do you know who to trust?
As a business operating in this cultural moment, you have to ask yourself- how can we show that we’re trustworthy? We had a conversation in the shop recently about trust, and we happened to catch a morsel of wisdom from Dr. David Flint,
“The most valuable commodity of the future would be trust. Those who earn it, defend it, and prove their credibility over and over and over will win everything.”
What will distinguish your voice from the cacophony of messages flying at your target audience? Trust. Established credibility. If your customer feels that you have their best interest in mind on a deep level, they will continue to come back for more.
Is operating with absolute perfection the only way to cultivate trust? No! It’s much more attainable than that. People aren’t looking for perfection, they’re looking for sincerity and motivation to discern the truth. Acknowledge what you don’t know and can’t understand, and people will see that you’ve got nothing to hide. Humanize your business. Speak like a person. Know the needs of your audience and speak to them. Be consistent. Champion your audience to the very end, and they’re yours forever!
The volume of our culture is steadily cranking up. As a result, the importance of trust and reliability is increasing by the day! But do not fear- we can help you cultivate trust with your messaging (and look great doing it).
