Thankful from Start to Finish

Well, 2020 sure caught everyone by surprise – we did NOT see all this coming.

Our shop has a core value – ‘thankful from start to finish’ and I guess that applies to a difficult year full of uncertainty and pain. As we’ve sheltered in place and watched the news, we’ve also spent time with family and friends. We are glad the year is half-way over and remain hopeful when we look to the future. Here are a few ways our staff has been spending their days:

Charcuterie Kitty

Samantha Douge, our account manager, has been playing with her cat and her mom has sent her and boyfriend wine samples that they have been pairing with delicious cheese. “We are on our way to becoming charcuterie experts!”

Bur Oaks

Mark Douglass, ½ of the founders of Fidelis, has been remodeling his bathroom and enjoying his wife’s newly perfected sourdough making skills. He also shared an illustration of how they explained COVID-19 and the impact it was making to their children. “In fact, we planted slow-growing Bur Oaks the week they announced the shelter-in-place because I wanted my kids to know that we will all be old one day. They have a future just like the massive trees we planted during COVID-19. It helped frame the pandemic in much less terrorizing terms for them. And then they went around the neighborhood planting them in neighbor’s yards – a sort of service project.”

Skateboarding 101

Our media director, Justin Young, has been learning to cook a variety of meals and teaching his boys the art of skateboarding.


Josh Gamble, the lead designer and graphic guru, has also been skateboarding and cooling off in his pool. He also has done a deep dive into the discography of important artists and albums released before the year 2000.

Puzzles Galore

Melissa Hatfield, our digital marketer, has been completing lots of puzzles and teaching her daughter how to ride a bike for the first time! She also has been tending to her giant tomato plant to add to her yummy summer recipes. “We have been very thankful through this whole process.” she says.
